Harry Potter star bullied

Daniel Radcliffe has revealed that he was bullied at schools after the Harry Potter film franchise made him an overnight sensation. Daniel (now 19) rose to fame at the age of 10 when he was cast in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ and was subsequently teased at school following the movie’s success. He reckons this forced him to toughen up, explaining, “I wasn’t the most popular kid because they wanted to give me a lot of crap and I wasn’t willing to take it.” However, the bullying has not affected Daniel in the long term, nor quelled his desire to push acting boundaries. In 2007, the young star appeared nude in the play ‘Equus’ and he’s recently taken up ballet classes in order to broaden his acting range. Daniel tells, “I’m learning the basics of ballet… In a few years, I’ll be 22 and that’s when all the guys who’ve been at drama school will come out. They’ve been learning dance or singing and I’m going to need to compete with them because I won’t have Harry Potter as my safety net any more. I need to make myself as viable a choice for any part as I possibly can.”
