Harry Potter director calls Rupert Grint

David Yates – who directed the final four entries in the long-running Harry Potter fantasy saga – praised actor Rupert Grint at a premiere event for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

“Rupert, ever since I’ve known him, has probably been the coolest person I’ve ever met in my life,” Yates told the Los Angeles Times.

“He has a hovercraft [and] an ice cream van. He’s really laid-back, but quietly smart.”

David also had positive things to say about Rupert’s fellow Potter stars, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

“Daniel is a bit of a workaholic, he loves work, but he’s [also] a very decent, curious, funny, lovely young man,” he added. “Emma is a little like Hermione – she’s very tough on herself. She’s incredibly bright.”

The director also revealed that he saw Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone director Chris Columbus at an event recently, and thanked him for selecting such good actors to play the three lead roles.
