George Michael reckons that his weekend drug bust-arrest was his “own stupid fault, as usual”. The pop star was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs after a passerby called police to investigate a man slumped over the wheel of his car. The 42-year-old singer says, “I was in possession of class C drugs, which is an offence, and I have no complaints about the police, who were professional throughout.” He has been bailed to return to a police station in late March pending a police investigation. The former Wham! frontman announced he was gay after being arrested in April 1998 for engaging in a “lewd act” in a public toilet in Los Angeles, ending years of speculation over his sexuality. He wrote a song and an accompanying video about that incident but has promised this time, “I won’t make a record out of this one, even though it’s tempting.” [28 February 2006]
