Wham! That’s the sound of the cell door slamming behind singer George Michael. The pop legend has been sentenced to eight weeks in prison for crashing his car while under the influence of marijuana. He also received a $2600 fine from the Highbury Corner oagistrates Court in London, plus a five-year ban from driving.
George (47) was arrested in July after driving his Range Rover into photo shop Snappy Snaps in Hampstead, north London. Last month, he pleaded guilty to cannabis possession and being behind the wheel of a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs. The judge told the ‘Careless Whisper’ singer his offences were a “serious matter” and said he could spent time in jail.
