Although this action-drama strives for historical accuracy, Pompeii ends up a hot mess.

Although this action-drama strives for historical accuracy, Pompeii ends up a hot mess. Directed by Paul WS Anderson (who also took a few liberties with The Three Musketeers), the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius becomes the backdrop for young love and old revenge as Milo (Kit Harington) fights his way through Roman soldiers and gladiators for his freedom, all while impending doom is just a rumble away. The clichéd plot and hammy acting make light of a natural disaster that was anything but.
