Led by Nick Frost (The World’s End), this movie about a former childhood salsa dance prodigy attempting to get his groove back and win the heart of a lady friend simply explodes off the screen with all the passion of the Cuban dance at its core. And while it runs through the usual rom-com moves with slick aplomb, offering no surprises to the formula, its routine still shines. With fantastic dance scenes and plenty of laughs, Cuban Fury is bright, colourful fun. Not a show stopper but an engaging feel-good film.

Stars: 3½/5
