Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie says she has always set herself high standards, and continued to strive for goals in the face of others doubting her abilities. “I’ve known what I wanted to do since I was a little girl,” says the performer. “And even through disappointments and rejection, there was something inside of me that wouldn’t give up. I’m a survivor, and I’m very driven.” She encourages young musicians to keep working toward their goals regardless of what those around them might say or do. “There were periods of my life when a lot of people didn’t believe in me. I still had faith in myself. Create a ladder for yourself, and walk up the steps. Climb that ladder.”
