Did Sarah Jessica Parker just confirm a return to Sex and the City?

Yes. Kind of.

Sarah Jessica Parker might be in the throws of a new TV series, but she has given Sex and the City fans hope with talk of a third movie.

During two recent interviews, the star who brought Carrie Bradshaw to life, has hinted another film installment might be in the works.

“I will say that the idea, it rests in the butler’s pantry,” she reveals during an interview with CBS. “It’s not on the table, but someone is holding it fairly nearby.”

The star, who is currently appearing in the new drama, Divorce, repeated the rather odd analogy in an interview on Bravo when a fan asked about Sex and the City 3.

“There’s this old fashioned thing called a warming drawer, so when you serve the food, the plates are warm,” she said. “So [the movie] is in the warming drawer.”

Sex and the City was a a hit HBO TV series, which ran from 1998 to 2004. It was also made into two films – in 2008 and 2010, which grosses a combined $970 million at the box office.

But after six seasons and 94 episodes what stories are left to be told about Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda? Well according to SJP there is.

Back in June, Sarah Jessica said of a third film, “We’ve never really had real conversations about it, other than that I know there is a story.

“I think it’s a really lovely story, but whether or not we tell it remains to be seen.”

Sex and the City creator Michael Patrick King also told Entertainment Weekly in February that a third installment was not ruled out.

“Sarah Jessica and I both know what the final chapter is,” King said.

“That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation.

“But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet.”
