Even after more than 50 years of acclaimed performances, Dame Judi Dench has confessed she still suffers from stage fright. The Academy Award-winning actress reveals that she still worries about her acting ability, despite her vast experience in theatre, film and television.
The 74-year-old puts the butterflies down to the burden of high expectations of her fans and fellow actors. She says, “I get much more nervous now. I thought I was quite nervous when I started 52 years ago, but I’m much more nervous now, you know, because people are expecting more I suppose. They’ve seen you for a long time and wait to see what you’re going to do.”
The ‘Casino Royale’ star adds that she is yet to master her craft despite more than five decades on the stage and screen. “The day I think I’ve learnt it all, that’s the day I’ll give up,” she says.
