Cut-price superstars?

A tussle between tax authorities and top promoters in France has led to the true figures for A-list celebritys’ guest appearance fees being revealed, probably much to the chagrin of the stars involved. The queen of the discount divas is Christina Aguilera, whose presence at private party appearances is said to command $NZ3 million, but has been revealed to bill only $NZ1 million. Similarly Rod Stewart may ask for $NZ2 million to sing at your bar mitzvah, but this figure can be negotiated down to $NZ1 million. The publicised figure for the Rolling Stones’ performance at the 60th birthday bash of a Texan billionaire in 2002 was $NZ 11million, but in reality the figure was $NZ 5million.
