Golden Globe-winning actor Colin Firth admits that his Italian wife’s parents didn’t like him much when they first met. The ‘Kings Speech’ star explains, “I had a lot of strikes against me. I was 10 years older nearly, English and didn’t speak the language. I already had a child. I was an actor. The list does get really very bad so I had to fix the language.”
50-year-old Colin married film producer Livia Giuggioli in 1997 and says learning to speak her native Italian helped him win over her parents. He says, “It was one thing I could deal with and there’s nothing like communication with people in their own tongue.”
