Coldplay have announced the New Zealand leg of their A Head Full of Dreams tour, with one stadium show confirmed for Auckland.

The British band will be playing at Mt Smart Stadium on Saturday, December 3 with tickets going on sale from Monday, May 30 at 2pm.

The tour marks the band’s first since their Mylo Xyloto outing in 2012, which also saw them make their way to Kiwi shores.

A Head Full of Dreams is Coldplay’s seventh album and features the singles ‘Hymn for the Weekend’, ‘Up&Up’ and ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’.

In an interview with Rolling Stone about the new record, frontman Chris Martin revealed it was “about love and acceptance and embracing what happens to you”.

“All of our records were a journey to get to this one,” he said.

The album features guest spots from music superstars including Beyoncé, Noel Gallagher, and even Chris’ ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, who lent her vocals for the backing track on the song ‘Everglow’.

Pre-sale tickets for Coldplay’s New Zealand show will be available from Thursday, May 26 at 2pm. More information can be found at LiveNation.
