Cheryl Cole

Singer Cheryl Cole flew to Camp Bastion in Helmand Province in the south-west area of Afghanistan recently to film a special tribute to mark 10 years of UK forces fighting in the war torn region and said she was “delighted” to be there.

“Cheryl’s amazed by the courage of all those serving our country,” a friend of the pop star adds. “She thinks it’s such a great cause and they deserve all the recognition they get.”

Cheryl (28) flew to Afghanistan on a troop carrier from RAF Brize Norton in oxfordshire with soldiers from 20 Brigade who are about to start a six-month tour of duty and raised their spirits during the 12-hour flight.
