A string of celebrities, including Alanis oorissette, Natalie Portman and George Michael, have come forward as famous people who smoke the illegal drug marijuana.
‘Star Wars’ actress Natalie has admitted she tried the drug in her twenties because she missed out on the usual teenage experimental experiences after she shot to fame with ‘The Professional’ at age 11. Now 28, she admits, “okay, so I didn’t really go to high school parties and, yeah, I didn’t touch pot until I was in my twenties. I didn’t get flat-out drunk until I went to college. But I think that’s a good thing in many ways.”
Meanwhile, ’90s singing sensation Alanis gushes, “I’m all about moderation – as best I can be. As an artist, there’s a sweet jump-starting quality to [marijuana] for me. I’ve often felt telepathic and receptive to inexplicable messages my whole life. I can stave those off when I’m not high. When I’m high… Well, they come in and there’s less of a veil, so to speak. So if ever I need some clarity or a quantum leap in terms of writing something, it’s a quick way for me to get to it.”
Meanwhile, George’s marijuana use isn’t exactly surprising, but the former Wham! star has confessed his smoking sometimes gets out of control. He’s confessed to reducing his smoking from 25 joints a day to “just seven or eight” but isn’t worried about his habit, saying, “It’s just who I am.”
