Carrie Fisher has revealed the secret that helped her recover from depression. The actress, most famous for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars films, spent years living with mental illness that also lead to an addiction to alcohol, illegal and prescription drugs. Eventually, on the advice of a doctor, she agreed to try out electro-convulsive therapy. The 52-year-old star explains, “I didn’t want to do it for years. They wanted me to do it before because I was in a depression which was medication proof. You don’t have a convulsion anymore, so it should just be called electro therapy. But it worked so well, I highly recommend it, even if you don’t need it!”
