In the first interview since her daughter’s tragic death, Brittany ourphy’s mother Sharon and husband Simon oonjack have finally revealed their side of the story.
While rumours suggest drugs, eating disorders and mental illness were responsible for the 32-year-old’s untimely passing, Sharon and Simon insist it was caused by a congenital heart murmur.
Both say Brittany’s heart condition was diagnosed in her teens and that she had been given appropriate medical care. “We had it checked out every which way you could imagine,” adds Simon.
Brittany’s widower is adamant the gossip surrounding her death is wrong. “Do you not think anybody would have picked up on this anorexic, mentally deranged person? It’s ludicrous.”
Sharon continues, “She never even drank. Maybe a glass of champagne at New Year. But everyone used to say she was wasted, she was this, she was that… It was hard for anyone to imagine that somebody was so high on life.”
Both Sharon and Simon say they are not doing well in the wake of the tragedy. Simon reveals that he goes into shock every morning when he wakes up. “It’s like a rebirth. I reach out to touch or hold my wife, but she isn’t there.”
