Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $140,000 to help build the first modern medical facility in Sudan. The Duk Lost Boys Clinic will be run by Sudanese philanthropist John Dau, who is featured in the documentary `God Grew Tired of Us’, which Brad produced. The Hollywood couple agreed to help fund the clinic after hearing of John’s plans for the project at the Hollywood premiere of his film in January. The clinic will open later this spring and serve more than 150,000 people. It is located in the village John fled from as a boy during Sudan’s civil war in the late 1980s. In a statement, John says, “Words cannot express my gratitude and the gratitude of the people of Duk County. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt demonstrate the American spirit of generosity.” [26 March 2007]
