David Beckham has revealed that his close friend Tom Cruise acted ascounsellor for him when he was booted out of the England squad last month. The 31-year-old footballer first turned to his wife Victoria, and was then consoled by the `oission Impossible’ star, who was himself sacked last month by Paramount Pictures, after working with the movie giants for 14 years. “He’s a great guy to be able to speak to because he is a very positive-minded person,” David says. “It is good to have people like him around you at that point.” He added that Tom had helped him regain his self-esteem. “He’s a great example of someone who stays positive through everything,” he adds. “And that’s how I started to get over what had happened with the England news.
