Award winner Steve Buscemi loved being a firefighter

He may be more likely to start a fire than put one out in his role on ‘Boardwalk Empire’, but Steve Buscemi says he enjoyed his time as a firefighter so much he would still be there if he wasn’t acting. The 53-year-old actor worked for the fire department for four years before he found success in his acting career, and says he wouldn’t have left it for anything but being a movie star. “I’d probably still be in the fire department,” he says. “I would have had 30 years on, so I no doubt would have continued doing that.” Steve was so dedicated to his former profession that he even returned to his old unit when the World Trade Centre was attacked to help clear rubble for a day. He has also had previous jobs as an ice cream truck driver, furniture remover, dishwasher, newspaper vendor, and a bus boy.
