It’s a marriage made in Canadian rock heaven – Avril Lavigne has announced her engagement to Chad Kroeger, the lead singer of Nickelback.
It’s been a whirlwind courtship for the Canadian couple, who fell for each other when working together on her upcoming album.

Avril is now sporting a huge 14-carat sparkler on her engagement finger, believed to be worth almost $1 million – and the pear-cut diamond looks even bigger compared to the petite 1.55m (5ft 1in) singer’s hand.
The ring is 10 carats bigger than the one her first husband Deryck Whibley gave her in 2005.
Chad is due in New Zealand next week with his band Nickelback.
