Aussie star has cancer treatment in NZ

Australian actor Andy Whitfield, who stars opposite Lucy Lawless in the upcoming Kiwi-filmed telly series ‘Spartacus’, has been diagnosed with the blood cancer non-Hodgkin lymphoma and is undergoing treatment in Auckland. We’re told the cancer was detected early and Andy’s outlook is good. He says, “I’m receiving excellent care. I’m feeling strong, positive and determined, with an army of support behind me.”

Andy (35) – who has starred in ‘All Saints’, ‘Packed to the Rafters’ and ‘ocLeod’s Daughters’ – has three children with his wife Vashti. The filming of the second series of ‘Spartacus’ has had to be delayed because Andy plays the title role.
