The actress, who is a goodwill ambassador for the UN and has drawn attention to suffering in Africa and Asia, came out ahead of Bono, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Bill Gates in the online survey.
Madonna, who raised millions for orphans in oalawi, was voted least respected celeb altruist.
