over the weekend, a British judge acquitted Amy Winehouse of assault charges. Amy had been accused of deliberately punching dancer Sherene Flash in the eye after Sherene asked to be in a picture with the beehived soul singer last September.
Prosecutors said Amy committed a deliberate assault but Amy maintained that she merely pushed Sherene because she felt intimidated. The judge concluded the trial by saying he could not be sure that the blow had been deliberate. “The charge is dismissed and the defendant discharged,” he said. It’s a small piece of good news in the singer’s troubled life. Amy has struggled with drugs and is currently going through an acrimonious divorce to her ex Blake Fielder Civil.
