Serena Williams’ surprising pregnancy cravings

Her fiancé shares the shopping list from his late-night supermarket trip.

Forget family-sized bars of chocolate, ice cream by the bucket load or pickles straight from the jar. Serena Williams’ pregnancy cravings are unexpectedly virtuous.

In a video posted on Saturday, Williams’ fiancé Alexis Ohanian took to Instagram to share a late night trip to the supermarket on behalf of his pregnant partner, and his shock at the items on his shopping list.

“It’s Friday night, I’m at Publix, going shopping ’cause my fiancée has cravings,” the Reddit co-founder told the camera.

“I was told there would be cravings, I was not told they would be these,” Ohanian said.

“Zucchini, asparagus, and… what’s this one called again? Artichoke. Really?”

Unlike the stereotype where expectant mothers are said to crave carbs, sugar and cheese, Williams just fancies vegetables. It seems Williams’ years training as a world champion athlete have influenced her diet for good, and even now she is pregnant she hankers after the healthy stuff.

Last month Williams told E! News that she has been blessed with a good pregnancy and wasn’t suffering with any weird cravings.

“I have just been trying to eat healthy and stay fit and definitely eating healthier than I normally do. It’s pretty backwards,” Williams explained.

She said that her diet included “lots of greens, lots of vegetables”, and she got her protein via “fish or different types of nuts and seeds.”
