An American woman has made headlines after giving birth to a 6kg baby girl – which is almost twice the average weight of a female baby.
Chrissy Corbitt, from Florida, has told news outlets her little girl Carleigh is already wearing outfits meant for a nine-month-old, after her momentous arrival on May 15.
“When the doctor was pulling her out of me I just start hearing them all laughing and excited in the operating room,” Chrissy told ABC News of her daughter’s c-section delivery.
“They were throwing out numbers and when they showed her to me and said 13.5 [pounds], I couldn’t believe it.
“It looked like they pulled a toddler out of my belly. She’s so big.”
Corbitt has called on photographer Sweet Smiles Photography Studio to document her bub’s arrival.
In May this year, a Lower Hutt woman became the subject of worldwide media attention when she gave birth to one of the region’s biggest ever babies.
Her son weighed 16 pounds 4 ounces (or 7.39kg).
