Sir Andy Murray and his wife Kim Sears have reportedly welcomed their second child – a baby girl.

The BBC revealed their bundle of joy arrived “a couple of weeks ago.”

“Both Kim and the new baby are believed to be doing well,” the British publication shared.

Confirming the wonderful news, Andy’s grandfather Roy Erskine tolf the Heart Scotland News: “We’ve known for a wee while. I can’t remember exactly when [she was born] it was but it was last week sometime.”

“They wanted to keep things private – we didn’t know it was going to be announced. We’ll get a chance maybe to see them over the weekend. Andy phoned and told us originally and told us obviously that everything’s okay. Mum and baby are both doing well.”

A huge congratulations!

Andy’s home country of Scotland also celebrated, with the country’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeting, “Congratulations to Kim and Andy (and to granny @JudyMurray too).”

Andy and Kim tied the knot back in 2015, in a quintessential countryside wedding.

The following year they welcomed their firstborn daughter, Sophia.

Andy and Kim announced that their daughter was getting a sibling earlier this year in July.

“We’re both obviously very happy and looking forward to it,” Andy told the BBC.

Andy Murray’s grandmother, Shirley Erskine, spoke to the BBC about their family’s newest addition, stating she was “delighted” and was “looking forward to a cuddle”.

Shirley was on her way to London to meet the little one, musing, “All’s well, which is the main thing.”

“She’s a little playmate for Sophia, who I’m sure will be equally thrilled.”

Just like Andy’s mum, Judy Murray, Shirley showed off her daughter’s sass when asked about her new great-granddaughter’s name.

“I’m sure they’ve got that all worked out.”

“We’ll find out this weekend. I don’t really know much at the moment because we haven’t seen her. But we’re looking forward to having a little cuddle and a little play with Sophia, who is running about all over the place and chattering.”

We can’t wait to find out what they name Sophia’s sister.

We’re predicting with her little sister’s arrival, we may have the next Williams sisters on our hands…

Though Shirley isn’t too sure she’ll get to see the girls take on the tennis court.

Laughing when asked if the sisters could become future Wimbledon partners, she remarked, “Not in our lifetime unfortunately – but we’d like to think so.”
