Mum of three tries for baby and finds out she’s pregnant with six

There's no avoiding upgrading the family car now.

Alabama parents of three Eric and Courtney Waldrop have always wanted “a houseful” of kids – and now they’ve literally got what they wanted after finding out they are expecting sextuplets. Yes, that’s right – six babies.

The couple had been trying for a fourth baby and suffered a miscarriage in January. They decided to try fertility medication, but were shocked to learn from doctors just how many babies Courtney got pregnant with.

“It was the shock of our lives,” Courtney Waldrop said.

The Waldrops, who have been together since the eighth grade and were married in 2004, have set up a Facebook page on which they are posting regular updates to let people know how the pregnancy is progressing.

In one post the couple reveal, “Concern at this point is being able to take in the huge amount of calories required to keep this many babies and myself healthy. So please pray that my appetite will allow me to eat like I’ve never eaten before. I’m determined I can do this!!!!

“I’m reminded each week when we see them on ultrasound that their lives are truly a miracle. Just praying they will continue grow like they are doing now and that I can hold onto them long enough for them to be healthy.🙏🙏🙏

The couple say their strong faith in God will carry them through the pregnancy: “We know God’s going to provide and get us through,” Courtney says.

They will reveal the babies’ genders at a special 5km fun run fundraiser this Saturday, August 26.

Courtney is in her second trimester (past 13 weeks) and it’s hoped the babies will make it to 28 weeks gestation before they’re born.
