A grieving couple who lost their son at 35 days old have been dealt another blow, after his photo was stolen and used by a scam website in America.

Leigh Kendall and Martin Parker lost their baby son Hugo in 2014 after he was born prematurely at 24 weeks.

After a 35 day struggle for life, Hugo tragically passed away, and the family chose to share images of him to raise awareness of premature births.

Two years later, Leigh was given the harrowing news via Facbeook that her son’s picture was being used on an American fundraising page.

On it a woman claimed she needed $10,000 for a hotel and to pay for medical bills for her son in Virginia, USA.

Leigh appealed to Facebook for help after she discovered the page, saying she felt “sick” that his images were being used by another.

38-year-old Leigh said she was “disgusted” that someone would use her tragedy for their gain.

“When I saw the page my stomach just went, I felt ill, I really could not believe my eyes, I was in disbelief,” Leigh said.

“I didn’t really know what to do, I filled out a complaint form on the website but you don’t know how soon these will be seen to, I went on Facebook and asked my friends for support, they were fantastic they also complained to get it taken down.”

GoFundMe removed the page within a few hours, thanks to the actions of Leigh’s friends who reported the fraudulent fund.
