We all know many British convicts were transported to Australia in the past, but can your name determine if you are more likely to commit a crime?
Australian solicitors from Go To Court have taken scientific research into their own hands to find out the most criminal name in the country.
The solicitors cross-referenced Australia’s most common names in the last 90 years against the 25,000 crimes found in the Australian CrimeNet database.
Reporting their findings on the (seriously addictive) interactive graph How Criminal Is Your Name, 500 names, along with the crimes most associated with each name, have been recorded.
Taking out the top spot is Leon, who, according to the graph, is most likely to commit an assault crime, while second-place Ivan is predicted to be tied up in drug offences.
Then there’s in-third-place Ali, who, like Leon, is linked to offences involving assaults.
Rounding out the top 10 were Gerald, Roy, Terrence, Albert, Danny, Frank and Frederick.
