Take Me Out host Paddy McGuinness and wife share touching message to their autistic twins

Paddy McGuinness' wife Christine has shared a beautiful birthday message to their four-year-old twins who are autistic.

Christine McGuinness posted a birthday tribute to her and Take Me Out host hubby Paddy McGuinness’ twins, who turned four over the weekend.

The beautiful post, which addressed the twins who are named Leo and Penelope, also revealed that the little ones have autism, something that the parents have not spoken about before.

The mum-of-three wrote the touching poem herself and posted it as a word image on her Instagram page.

The poem read: “Today you both turn four, and I celebrate so much more. In the last 12 months you have learnt to talk, and you are using flat feet to walk.

“You are conquering your daily challenges, and I’m here to hold your hand, when you’re dealing with sensory overload, the quietest room sounds like a big brass band.

“You excel in mathematics and amateur dramatics and you amaze me every day, because you are beautiful inside and out in an extra special way.

“The meltdowns, the routines and all the planning ahead. The groundhog days, the beige food and the temperamental ‘time for bed’.

“I love you unconditionally and will encourage you both to embrace your autism.

“Because you are totally unique and fantastically awesome. All my love always, mummy.”

She posted the image alongside the caption: “My babies, My world #Autism #AutismAwareness.”

Christine, 29, was inundated with comments from fellow parents who emotionally praised her for speaking out.

One mum wrote: “I can honestly say to you after six children and two of my six diagnosed with autism (16 & 10 ) life does get easier. It’s hard to start with sometimes impossible but I can honestly say I wouldn’t change my boys for the world, they are so unique and loving and both amazing in their own ways. Sending much love to your family.”

Another commented: “Thank you for reminding the world that autism is something to embrace, not fear. These are the same sentiments we feel towards our two with autism as well. Happy Birthday to your little ones!”

One other wrote: “What a touching and heartfelt poem, my eight-year-old son is on the autistic spectrum and he is beautiful in everyway.”

Another mum commented: “Lovely words @mrscmcguinness. It’s a weird and wonderful world that our children take us into. It’s tough some days but they wouldn’t be the same children without their little ways 😊. Hope both your treasures had a fabulous day.”

Christine also posted a photo of a cupcake with a “4” candle in it, alongside the caption: “Happy Birthday to my gorgeous twins Leo & Penelope #4today. How fabulous you have grown from then, Leo – 6lb7oz and Penelope – 6lb10oz.

“You changed my life forever, swapping my stilettos for slippers and discovering a patience I didn’t know I had. I love you both more than you will ever know.”
