Identical twin sisters give birth on the same day, at same time

What a special connection.
Identical twin sisters give birth on the same day

Identical twins Sarah Mariuz and Leah Rodgers admit they have always been close, but even they are surprised they gave birth on the same day, at the same time.

The two women live in different cities in the States, and each gave birth to their babies on June 30 at 1.18am local time.

Leah delivered a baby boy named Reid Joseph in Denver, Colorado, while Sarah had a baby girl, Samantha Lynne, in La Jolla, California.

Leah and her husband Kyle, welcomed her baby boy first.

“It’s that magical twin connection I suppose,” Sarah told People magazine.

“There have just been certain things in our life where things just match up – it’s odd.

“We didn’t plan being pregnant at the same time. But our journeys aligned, even giving birth! Twins have a special bond, it’s hard to explain.”

The special connection was there when the twins, 35, announced their pregnancies.

“I wanted it to be a surprise, but when she showed up at the door – it was the funniest thing – but as soon as I saw her, I knew she was pregnant too,” Leah told the magazine.

Sarah planned on letting Leah have her celebratory moment to herself, but when she discovered that they were only due four days apart, she simply couldn’t hold it in any longer.

“I ran down the hallway and got the ultrasound pic out of my purse and slapped it down next to Leah’s.”

“We were jumping up and down, just so happy for each other. Everyone was just in shock,” she said to Today.

Exactly one hour later at the same local time, Sarah and her husband Nick, welcomed their daughter.

“It’s a really cool thing to be able to share,” says Leah. “The adventure will only continue as our babies share the same birthday like we did! We can’t wait for them to grow up together.”
