Taking the family out in the car was becoming a drag for father of two-year-old triplets Jake White – so he decided to come up with a way to make life easier. And it’s one that any parents of multiples or young kids could use.
The stay-at-home dad from Ohio decided to put his is background in fine arts and sculpture to good use and create barriers to stop the in-car fighting over snacks and toys. And judging by the totally relaxed looks on the faces of Stella, Xavier and Jude, they’re pretty chilled out about the new driving arrangements.
“I did it because there was snack-stealing going on and to a 2-year-old, that’s the end of the world,” White told TODAY Parents. “The dividers are foam core, just strong enough to keep the kids separated. The kids aren’t strong enough to break it from a seated position yet.”
Jake sounds like a bit of a creative problem solver when it comes to parenting three toddlers. He also has an ingenious hack to manage the inevitable vertical surface scribbling:
“ I did all the doors in the house with the chalk paint in preparation and a wall in the basement. “
Of course there were the inevitable complainers and haters who questioned Jake on how safe this would be in a crash and even claimed one of his kids weren’t buckled up correctly. Some of the parenting sites that shared it actually included a request for people NOT to start a debate on safe child restraint use and just enjoy the photo.
But most just loved it.
“I’m gonna use this for the teenagers in my van,” said one fan. Another shared her ultrasound picture of her own triplets.
