Netflix has released a first look at its new documentary series, Amanda Knox, based on the infamous Meredith Kercher murder case from 2007.

29-year-old Amanda was imprisoned in Italy for four years between 2007 and 2011, after she was convicted of murdering her British housemate Meredith, who she lived with in Perugia.

The infamous case was widely criticised both over the Italian police’s handling of evidence and for local and international media’s sensationalised coverage.

People also took umbridge with Amanda’s label ‘Foxy Knoxy,’ and the fact that much of the coverage focused on her appearance, as well as her sexually liberated past.

Netflix have released two separate trailers for the series, one in which viewers are encouraged to “believe” Amanda, while the other says we should “suspect” her.

American Amanda and her then boyfriend, Italian Raffaele Sollecito, were dramatically acquitted of Meredith’s murder in 2011, though they had to wait a further four years before the Italian courts definitively exonerated them of the crime.

After her acquittal, Amanda returned to Seattle, America, where she has completed her degree and taken on part time work at the West Seattle herald.
