Missing mum found alive three weeks after she vanished

The family of Sherri Papini are relieved to have the 34-year-old returned to them this weekend after she was the victim of an apparent abduction three weeks ago.

The mother-of-two went missing after leaving her home in Redding, California, on November 2 for a late morning jog, CNN reports.

Hopes began to fade when an initial search by police and volunteers recovered only an iPhone, earbuds headphones and strands of what was believed to be Papini’s hair along a route she frequented, authorities said.

Papini was then found on Thanksgving morning in Yolo County, about 225kms from where she went missing, police said.

“We are very ecstatic to report that Sherri Papini has been located, and has been reunited with her husband and family on this Thanksgiving Day,” Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko said in a news conference.

It’s believed the woman was found chained and heavily battered but managed to wave down a passing motorist to help her to safety.

Papini was reportedly treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have said the investigation is ongoing and they are searching for two women suspected in the abduction, the Los Angeles Times reports.
