A police officer taking part in London’s pride parade broke ranks this weekend to propose to his boyfriend.

The beautiful moment was captured on camera, as the policeman broke away from his colleagues to get down on one knee in front of boyfriend Jonathan Sammons.

In the crowd, that spanned the length of Regent Street, the police officer took Jason’s hand before asking if he’d marry him.

His partner can be seen nodding and laughing before they embrace and kiss.

The crowd around them cheer them on, with some setting off streamers and waving flags in approval. The couple are then passed two glasses of prosecco to toast their engagement.

Ab Fab’s Edina and Patsy were also in attendance

Speaking to ITV News, Jason said: “Amazing! Oh my God I can’t believe he did it.”

His policeman fiancé meanwhile said he’d been planning to propose for a while, “but not like this.”

Thousands of people flocked to the streets of London this weekend for the annual Pride parade.

New mayor of the city, Sadiq Khan, took the opportunity during Pride to tell London’s Europeans (of which there are 1 million) that they remain welcome in the city despite the country voting for Brexit on Friday.

“To every European resident here at Pride 2016 and across our amazing city – you are welcome here,” he said.
