Parents reveal their heartache after baby swing death

“You never think this will happen to you,” his grief-stricken mother said.

A couple from Perth have spoken of their heartbreak, after their baby son died while using an infant swing.

Jeremy Rainsford and Emma Granger have been left devastated, after their three-month-old son died when he was left strapped into a freestanding swing in the family home.

Father Jeremy, who spoke to The Western Australian about the tragedy, said he left the room for a matter of minutes to go to the bathroom, but when he returned his baby son Kayden was pale and limp.

Despite performing CPR and calling emergency services immediately, Kayden passed away later than evening.

Despite their grief, the couple decided to share their story in the hopes they can prevent a further tragedy like this one.

“Don’t leave your children to sleep in those swings and don’t leave them in there unsupervised,” warned mum Emma.

“We want to help other parents realise that it just takes five minutes to turn around or walk out and a child is gone.

“I want to stop this from happening to other people because it is a parent’s worst nightmare.”

It’s suspected that Kayden vomited and choked in his sleep, but the couple will not know the true cause of death until an autopsy is performed.

The couple have another child together, two year old Tyler.
