JonBenet Ramsey documentary reveals shocking audio from 911 call

The Case of JonBenet Ramsey documentary reveals what might have happened in the seconds after Patricia Ramsey thought the 911 phone call was over.

A new documentary has revealed shocking new audio relating to the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, shedding light on the 20-year-old unsolved murder case.

The Case of JonBenet Ramsey, which will screen in New Zealand on September 25, reveals what may have happened in the seconds after the six-year-old’s family thought the phone call they made to emergency services was over.

On Boxing Day in 1996 Patricia Ramsey called 911 to report her daughter had been kidnapped after reportedly finding a ransom note on the stairs of the family home in Boulder, Colorado.

After she finished speaking to the operator, Mrs Ramsey thought the call had disconnected but the 911 operator was still on the line and captured muffled audio of Patricia talking to someone else inside the Ramsey’s house.

Those six seconds of audio have been analysed by the CBS documentary’s team of experts, led by former FBI special agent Jim Clemente, who have been brought together to look into the case.

The experts allege there was a conversation between three people after Mrs Ramsay thought she had hung the phone up.

“We’re not speaking to you,” said a male voice, thought to be JonBenet’s father, John Ramsey.

“What did you do? Help me Jesus,” said a female voice, believed to be Patricia Ramsey.

“What did you find?” said the voice of a child, thought to be their young son Burke — who the family always maintained was asleep the entire time.

The documentary will also feature an interview with the 911 operator, Kim Archuletta who took the call and who has never spoken publicly before.

Archuletta believes that, while she couldn’t hear what was being said, Patricia’s hysterical tone shifted a lot once she thought the phone call had ended.

“It sounded like she said, ‘Okay, we’ve called the police, now what?’ and that disturbed me,” Archuletta said.

“So I remained on the phone trying to listen to what was being said. It sounded like there were two voices in the room, maybe three. Different ones. I had a bad feeling about this, to me it sounded rehearsed.”

While Archuletta and the experts believe the recording might be key evidence missed by police who worked the case, one of the investigators on the documentary, James R. Fitzgerald, a retired FBI supervisory special agent and forensic linguistic profiler, says even if the documentary team of experts feel they’ve solved the 1996 case, no one will be arrested at the end.

“In the last 15 minutes of our special [screening], 100 per cent absolutely the viewers will know who this team of experts suspects as having killed JonBenét, no questions about it,” Fitzgerald told E! News. ahead of the documentary airing on US TV this week.

Fitzgerald, who worked on the original murder case in 1996-97, also added: “I’m a linguist and words mean things, so it’s how we define solve … It’s going to be up to a prosecutor’s office and maybe a police department to actually put handcuffs on someone. Whether that happens, working as private citizens now, we can only go so far.”
