While cocktails and party dress emojis might be right for women living it large, one grandma is paving the way for some more realistic representations of her lifestyle.

Diane Hill, 56, wants more diverse emojis that will apply more directly to the over-50s, and is campaigning to get them launched.

The Coventry, England local, is part of a BBC Outreach project to show how the media reflects people and places.

With the help of artist Chris Oxenbury, graphics have been designed to include back pain, bingo, disapproving looks and losing your false teeth emojis.

Diane has seen the designs so far and thinks they look “fantastic,” she told the *BBC.

If approved smartphone users could soon see designs such as ‘spending the kid’s inheritance’ on their devices.

Siobhan Harrison, who works on the Open Doors project at the BBC, said the project has “raised some interesting issues about how the media reflect older people’s lives.”
