Father and son killed after head on collision with each other

Relatives have described their heartbreak after the father and son collided on a country road.

A father and son from Alabama have been killed, after they crashed their respective vehicles into one another.

50-year-old Jeff Brasher, a beloved bread deliveryman, was on his way out to work when he collided with his son Austin Brasher, who was on his way home.

It’s unclear where the 22-year-old Brasher had been until 4am that night, or whether he had been consuming alcohol.

Austin’s cousin, Monica Marie Aker, told PEOPLE that he was well loved by the community.

She also admitted that part of the family were relieved the son did not survive, due to the guilt he would feel for killing his father.

“It would have destroyed him,” she told the magazine.

At the time of the crash, that happened just 16km from their home, Jeff Brasher was on a delivery to Flower’s bakery in Winfield.

Meanwhile his son, 22, was travelling down the same country lane in a Chevrolet pickup truck.

It’s believed one of the trucks crossed into the wrong lane, and hit the other head on.

While Jeff was declared dead on the scene, his son died five hours later while in hospital. Neither party were wearing a seat belt.
