A proud child has shared a smiling photo of their mother, after she safely evacuated 40 schoolchildren to safety from a smoking bus.
The school bus driver from norther Virginia acted swiftly when her vehicle began to fill with smoke. So she evacuated the kids, going back inside the fume filled bus to make sure no children had been left inside.
17 children from the school in Loudoun, Virginia had to be taken to hospital following the gas leak, all of whom were suffering minor sickness symptoms.
The bus driver also had to be taken to hospital after suffering fume inhalation.
The original post reads: “She drives a school bus in northern VA and after picking up all the kids on her route, the back started filling with smoke. She got them all off and went back in to check every seat and so had to be taken in for fume inhallation, along with some kids but everyone is okay. It was under control, from my understanding, before the whole thing was in flames.”
