The heartbreaking reason this girl wasn’t invited to her aunt’s wedding

The rest of her family are on the guest list.

A teenager has revealed the heartbreaking reason why she was left out of her aunty’s wedding – while her parents and brothers were invited.

The 15-year-old Reddit user known as Zinogirl turned to the internet to vent her frustrations after not being invited to the family occasion because of her physical disability.

“I need crutches but I can handle myself. The invitation to our family says my parents and my brothers,” she wrote.

“My dad talked to my aunt and she thought that the venue isn’t friendly and comfortable for me and that’s why she didn’t invite me. If that’s the only reason, isn’t that something I should decide? Maybe I can handle myself in that venue. Maybe my brother and dad will help me if I needed help. She excluded me because I have a disability.”

The young woman continued by saying her parents told her she needed to understand that her aunty gets to decides who attends her wedding and that she can’t be “upset and I should respect her decision”.

“I told them that if she thinks I’m not good enough to be at her wedding then I don’t want to see her or talk to her again but they tell me that I should continue to be a good niece and respect her and be friendly with her. I don’t understand why?”

While her two brothers have decided to stay away from the wedding with her, she says her parents and aunty don’t understand why she is upset.

Zinogirl has received an outpouring of support online.

One user, lexis0213, wrote: “Seriously…this! My parents would never go to something that specifically excluded ONE of their children,” while Ethelfleda said: “Wow…I work with people with disabilities and that is a shock even to me. Usually insensitive family members just pick a non-accessible spot but still do the “paper invite”. Your family is weird and disrespectful.”
