Stan Walker has postponed his upcoming ‘New Takeover’ tour, which was due to launch in Invercargill on November 3, after the “recent and sudden news” that his mother April Walker had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Friends, it is with sadness that I need to postpone my tour. I need to be with my Mum while she recovers from breast cancer,” Stan said in a statement released today.

“All we need as a family is your love and prayers.”

The ‘Take It Easy’ singer added that he wanted to apologise to fans for any inconvenience the news may have caused, but he hoped they would understand.

The 25-year-old had been planning to tour throughout New Zealand, finishing up with a last show in Auckland on November 19.

Stan also shared the news on his personal Instagram page, alongside a photo of himself and mum April.

In his most recent post before the announcement, Stan hinted at how his family would always come first.

“The 1 place I desire to be…” he wrote, alongside a picture of himself performing on stage.

“But I would give it up in a second for my family.”
