Despite earlier reports that Paul Henry would be quitting both his eponymous breakfast show and TV3, it appears the embattled breakfast broadcaster will be staying on at the network in an as yet unspecified new role.

Chief News Officer Hal Crawford confirmed the upcoming changes in an announcement to staff at the network, according to Stuff.

These changes include the end of the Story current affairs programme, which is currently fronted by Duncan Garner and Heather du-Plessis Allan, to be replaced by a New Zealand version of Australian show The Project.

The new show is expected to begin airing at 7pm from early next year.

Duncan will replace Paul in the breakfast time slot, while Paul is expected to stay on at Mediaworks to work on special projects. However, the broadcaster’s on-air duties are expected to be significantly reduced, according to Stuff.

An official announcement from the network is expected tomorrow, when Mediaworks kicks off its official season launch.
