While at university in 2008, Rachel Anderson made the brave move of moving into a flat of four boys in Mt Eden, Auckland. People thought she was crazy and tried talking her out of it. Turned out to be where she met her future husband!
The proposal came in 2011. Originally planning to pop the question on holiday in Hanmer Springs, Brendan had to settle for the rose gardens of his hometown as the ring he had designed had not been ready in time. Brendan was so serious and emotional that day it confused Rachel so much that she thought he was breaking up with her, only to be completely taken by surprise when Brendan got down on one knee!
They married on Muri Beach, Rarotonga (Rachel’s home country), with the reception at Island Bay Villas with 60 of the couple’s closest friends and family. Although it rained all morning, the skies cleared in time for what was a truly magical day.
