NZ Wedding: Ian & Lara Hooper

Ian Hooper first met Lara Hancox at a party that neither one had wanted to go to. Ian says that when he first saw Lara he liked the look of her and was asking if she was single. When she first saw Ian, she liked him a lot and found out he was single, then to get his attention pinched his bottom – and has never lived it down.

The proposal came when they were sitting outside at a party. Lara says, “While we were sitting there, I told Ian how much I loved him and said to him I would love to marry him one day, and two days later Ian was asking my parents permission to marry me.”

The pair got married at home in the garden. Lara says, “The weather was beautiful and we had our friends and family there, with my best friend from Nelson as my head bridesmaid. I had two of my girls as flower girls and Ian had his brothers and best friend from Australia as his best men. It was a beautiful family day.”
