It was cold down in the south of the North Island last week, but a crowd of excited Weekly readers from Wellington and Palmerston North didn’t let that stop them from enjoying a night of fun, laughter and bubbles when the New Zealand Woman’s Weekly Live! roadshow rolled into town.
Celebrating our 80th birthday with free events at Farmers stores in the two cities, MC April Ieremia and irrepressible cook Annabelle White joined editor Sarah Stuart and fashion editor Lucia Tigri-Brown in a free evening show that had women queuing for up to an hour to get a seat!
Guests were treated to canapés and Stoneleigh bubbles on arrival and while waiting for the show to start, there were spot prizes on offer – plus a delightful goodie bag filled with freebies from Revlon and a lucky Lotto ticket. First to take the stage at the 6pm events were three local makeover winners, who had spent the day being pampered by Lucia and Revlon makeup artists Lisa and Jo. Each revealed one of three new styles – a weekend look, work outfit or glamorous evening wear – to the roar of an appreciative crowd.
Editor Sarah then chaired a panel of guests to discuss a range of female-centric issues, – bestselling book Fifty Shades of Grey proved a popular topic of conversation that gained plenty of audience interaction. Annabelle couldn’t wait for her turn on stage to entertain the crowd and demonstrate her easy dip recipes with help from an audience member. Annabelle, forgetting to put the blade in the mixer while making her pea and feta dip in Palmerston North, definitely had the audience in stitches!
