Nadia Lim recovering after kitchen mishap

The celebrity chef was rushed to hospital yesterday after chopping off part of her finger in a freak accident

Even experienced chefs aren’t immune to the odd mishap in the kitchen, as My Food Bag co-founder and new mum Nadia Lim proved yesterday.

The Kiwi culinary star shared the details of her harrowing experience in a Facebook post yesterday, alongside a grisly photo of her bandaged-up finger. Nadia explained that she was in the middle of preparing lunch when she “ended up slicing the top of my finger off” and rushed off A&E to “get the chopped off piece put back on”.

Luckily, the quick-thinking chef had the foresight to save the piece of finger in a chiller bag and bring it along with her to the hospital, where it was able to be reattached.

“Must have been overexcited about Bargain Box NZ launching today when I was making lunch,” she joked, making a reference to the more affordable version of her hit My Food Bag service which also launched yesterday.

In a later comment to one of her Facebook fans, Nadia revealed that she had been chopping bread when the accident occurred and compared her chopped-off fingertip to the sight of a baked bean.

“I was cutting bread … don’t ask me how I did it!” she said, in one of many responses to the hundreds of supportive messages that flowed in from well-wishers.

Here’s hoping the new mum, who welcomed her son Bodhi with hubby Carlos Bagrie earlier this year, gets well soon!
