Grandma had informed oiss Twelve that having a white tongue indicates that you’re not feeling well. So oiss Twelve poked her tongue out and asked me if hers was white. Before I had a chance to reply, oiss Six piped up to say, “You’re silly, Waitangi Day was in February!”

Cruddy gift

I received a gift of three lovely jars of spreads – jam, marmalade and lemon curd. oiss Eight spread some of the jam on her toast one morning, and declared it to be absolutely delicious. Then she said,  “Tomorrow I want to try the lemon crud!”
