Dead or Alive singer Pete Burns, the singer behind hits such as ‘You Spin me Round (Like a Record)’, has passed away after suffering a “massive” cardiac arrest, according to a statement posted on Twitter by his management.
“It is with the greatest sadness that we have to break the tragic news that our beloved Pete Burns of (Dead or Alive), died suddenly yesterday of a massive cardiac arrest,” the statement read.
“All of his family and friends are devastated by the loss of our special star. He was a true visionary, a beautiful talented soul, and he will be missed by all who loved and appreciated everything he was and all of the wonderful memories he has left us with.
“We have no more words, we will make a further statement when we have had a chance to come to terms with our devastating loss. He will live forever in our memories.”
Pete rose to fame with the group Dead or Alive in the ‘80s, which released hit songs including ‘That’s the Way (I Like It)’, ‘You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)’ and ‘Brand New Lover’.
In recent years, the singer also found fame with appearances on reality TV shows including Celebrity Big Brotherand Celebrity Wife Swap.
He also garnered attention for his ever-changing looks over the years, with the singer once telling the Daily Mail that he saw his string of plastic surgeries as nothing different from people who “redecorate their homes every few years”.
Several stars have since paid tribute to him on Twitter, including Boy George and some of his housemates on Celebrity Big Brother.
