A woman in the UK has been jailed for eight weeks for disturbing her neighbours with parties, noise and constantly playing an Ed Sheeran song at a loud volume.
Sonia Bryce, from Walsall, was convicted and sentenced after numerous neighbours complained about the loud music and large number of visitors to her home, the Daily Mail reports.
The website claims the mum-of-three has already been jailed once before for creating a nuisance.
The woman’s neighbour, Clare Tidmarsh, said she and her family had been forced to contend with “numerous comings and goings at her neighbour’s property” – with continuous “loud music, shouting and swearing”.
Tindmarsh had installed CCTV and kept a diary of events as a way to “control the behaviour of Miss Bryce”.
The “straw that broke the camel’s back” was when she played Ed Sheeran’s song Shape of You on loop for half an hour, at which point she complained, the court heard.
At Bryce’s sentencing, Judge Philip Gregory said there was “a wholly unacceptable level of disturbance through loud noise involving music, shouting, swearing and banging – time and time again – emanating from Miss Bryce’s home”.
Bryce begged the court not to be jailed, saying: “I can’t be taken away from my kids’ care”.
However the judge replied: “You must learn that you should behave as a reasonable and responsible adult, and not make life for your neighbours the misery that you have”.
